I was bored with the music on my CD on the way home so I thought I’d try out Radio 1 for a change. I put it on and it started out with the news and the cognitive dissonance of a report on widespread rape of children relayed over a disco beat.
First song up was N-Dubz (missed the name of the track):
Possibly the loosest sounding track I’ve ever heard on the radio. It sounded like a bunch of children fucking about with a tape recorder for the first time over an unremarkable backing track.
Maybe it’s just the shitness that is FM radio…
Next up was The Vaccines (Don’t know the name of the track, it’s their current single I guess):
I know this track and I don’t like it. I like it less every time I hear it. I do like their first album, I really like it. Luckily before the track finished I arrived at Sainsbury’s and went in there to buy my dinner.
Next up was Rihanna (something to do with diamonds in the sky?):
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a more boring track. It was completely lacking in… Anything… It was just tedious.
Next up was something that initially sounded not bad which then cut into really awful London rap. I had to turn it off at this point. The DJ also threatened to play The Killers later.
So Radio 1 lived up to my expectation of playing the worst selection of current music they could possibly find. Some things never change.
