Wahaha! I just found the service manual for the Yamaha Organ I’ve got in the living room so after a brief glance at how you go about opening it up I went in and fixed the broken key on the upper keyboard.
I don’t think I’ve ever opened up an electronic device that was designed with servicing in mind before: it was so easy! I took out two screws and the top hinged up, another two screws and the control panel hinged up, another two screws and the top keyboard hinged up and then I could just lift the lower keyboard if I wanted, but I just needed in at the bottom of the upper keyboard. The keys work by a simple sprung contact switch system, so I just scraped the contact with a knife and now all the keys work! Yay!
I also noticed that someone’s lost paperwork down inside the organ at some point. I guess I’ll take the back off and remove it some time in the future.
