I decided to test my D800 for the left focus point problem today. I followed Thom Hogan’s instructions and found I could see a difference between manual focus and autofocus on the left and centre focus points but the right was dead on. Given that I was manually focusing with live-view so I was expecting my manual focus to be better, and the difference is pretty much invisible below a 100% pixels view on a 36 megapixel camera, I don’t think I really need to worry.
That right sensor being dead on is pretty impressive though!
