This weeks been fun so far... BOTH the computers broke down. We got the mobo from Dabs and it didn't work, so we sent it back and EVENTUALLY got a replacement, so I stuck it in and everything was fine until I decided to get the sound working. The sound refused to work. At some point during all this the HDD got corrupted, and me being the ever observant person failed to notice what was actualyl going on. Anyway, eventually I managed to save most of our files and reinstalled windows from scratch.
THIS machine on the other hamd, Has been kinda different. Alisdair brought his celerons down the other day and we installed Linux and then stuck them on me board, to see if they worked. They work, but are a bit unstable at 600. Anyway, when he decided to go home we discovered we couldn't get the heatsinks back off the mobo! Of course the celerons are under the heatsinks so we couldn't get them off either. Then Windows screwed up, and I've been too busy sorting my parents machine to spend much time on this one at all. Anyway, that means that I've currently got linux on and am using Enlightenment and everything. Apparently my sound card drivers won't work with SMP (I've still got allisdairs processors) but it seems to be working fine from here. The MP3s jump occasionally, but it certainly runs better with SMP on than SMP off.
I also ordered a CD from Amazon.co.uk on Wednesday and it's not arrived yet. Apparently it was shipped on Friday.... :/
Maybe I'm just too used to Dabs. ;)
